SPECIAL GUEST:
KIRK BOZIGIAN is the man that orchestrated Hasbro's spectacularly successful launch and longevity of the 3 3/4-inch G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero brand. He worked as the original product manager at the Hassenfeld Brothers (Hasbro, Inc.) toy company in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
Kirk “wrote the book” on modern action figure marketing strategy and developed the 'weapons and tactics' that are still used by action figure marketers today. These tactics include strategic alliances with entertainment companies (Marvel Comics & Marvel Productions), “bio” file cards, flag-point rewards promotions, and “toyized” play action features. As Vice-President of Boys Toys marketing, he was among the first to recognize the growth of action figure collectors and their importance to the toy market. He helped support and organize the very first G.I. Joe conventions.
His head sculpt was used to create the 1986 G.I. Joe Military Police action figure: LAW. Mr. Bozigian was also instrumental in creating the very first live action G.I. Joe Movie --- which ran as a series of thirty second TV commercials to promote the G.I. Joe toy line. He worked on G.I. Joe: The Movie (1987), G.I. Joe: Sgt. Savage and His Screaming Eagles: Old Soldiers Never Die (1994) and the G.I. Joe Documentary (2002). He most recently appeared on a G.I. Joe episode of the Netflix series "The Toys That Made Us".
Kirk is the owner of HKB Ideas, a marketing and new product development company that specializes in helping businesses and inventors to launch their concepts. He is also a Professor in the Marketing department at Providence College, Providence, RI.
